

He loved his family, especially his grandkids and kids. Nothing made him happier than cheering them on at a baseball or soccer game, cheer competition or a dance recital. He was so proud of them. He coached and supported his kids in their sports and dance for many years; the kids he coached were loved like one of his own.
He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, but got more pleasure out of teaching others to love it as well.
He enjoyed his garden, bottling jalapenos, and sharing his fresh salsa made with his tomatoes and peppers.
He liked to build fishing rods for his family and friends, customizing them to each individual. Each rod was a labor of love.
Dan worked at Monroc with his brother Don in his early years, then went to work for Hercules. He finished his career at Kennecott Utah Copper, Rio Tinto; working at the refinery in precious metals.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Ervin; his brothers, Don and Daryl; his father and mother in-law, Mardean and Lois Whitney and nephew, Kody Sinfield. He is survived by his mother, Lois Ervin; brothers Dave (Janine), Doug (Cheryl) and sister, Diane; sisters in-law, Julie and Leslie and many nieces and nephews.
Also survived by his children, Brandi and Cody Frandsen, Loree and Cory Fowlks, Matt and Susan Ervin; his wife, Cory Whitney Ervin; and his grandchildren, Boston Frandsen, Brityn Frandsen, Oaklie Frandsen, Kenley Fowlks, Kimball Fowlks and Oliver Ervin.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 3 to 5 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South in West Valley City, Utah. Dress is casual, Dan preferred shorts, jeans, and sweats.
