David LeRoy Edens, age 78, passed away November 21, 2020 at Lake Ridge Senior Living in Orem, Utah after a long illness. He was born on August 30, 1942 to Wilber C. Edens and Mary Elizabeth Summers Edens in Charleston, West Virginia, he was the third of five children.
David attended schools in Charleston and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1960 where he proudly served as the drum major for the marching band. He graduated from BYU in Provo, Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in business. David served in the US Navy for four years and served in the US Army for two years where he achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
David was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He studied the scriptures to acquire a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. He served in many positions, being a home teacher was a favorite as well as working at the Family History Library to share his love of genealogy. He loved to listen to the Tabernacle Choir and to sing hymns in church choirs. He was also proud to be in the American Fork Choir in 1982.
David loved his family and did his best to provide for them. He had a variety of interesting jobs throughout the years, but especially enjoyed construction work as an independent contractor. He helped many neighbors and friends with remodels or repairs.
David was married to Becky Bunch Edens from 1966 to 1989. He is survived by Becky and their four daughters; Carman (Nate) Corbridge; Jennifer (John) Langi; Dawn Edens and Mandy (Nate) Stevenson. He is also survived by his sister; Sandra Harris; his two brothers: James Edens and Daniel (Linda) Edens, David has left behind nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and a cat named Lusi. David is proceeded in death by his parents, his eldest brother William (Edith) Edens and his brother in law, Donald Harris.
David will be greatly missed by his beloved family and friends until we meet again in our Heavenly Home. We would like to extend a special thank you to John and Bonnie Lund for being his friend for many years and helping him the past couple of years.
In honor of David’s memory funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2020, 2:00 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will be on Tuesday December 1st, 6:00‐8:00 pm and again on Wednesday, December 2nd, 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm. Interment to follow services at Valley View Memorial Park.
