Debra Simpson

She grew up amongst ten children in a tiny house off of 9th East and attended Granite High School, from which she graduated in 1973. She married George Raymond Simpson Jr. on May 23, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple and welcomed a daughter, Natasha Virginia Orleann into her life on March 4, 1988. She was an amazing sewer, always willing to make something for someone, and would happily repair or assist in any sewing project asked of her. She worked many years for Catalina before moving to Boulder Bag as a sewer and later manager, where she worked for over 24 years.

She also enjoyed her two shih tzus, playing with her iPad, traveling with her daughter, including their trips to Disneyland, and spending time with those she loved.

Debra is survived by her daughter Natasha; brothers Denton (Pam) Hathaway, Wendell (Kathy) Hathaway, Neil (Shirley) Hathaway, Sheldon (Connie McGeehen) Hathaway, Tillman (Sue) Hathaway; sisters, Diana (Keith) Harmes, Karla (Bart) Wilson, Kirtrine (Brent) Burk; and many, many loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by her husband George, parents and sister Cheryl Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 11:00 am at the Kearns 21st Ward, 4270 W 5700 S. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 pm at the church and Thursday from 10:00-10:45. Burial will follow the services in the Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 W 4100 S.
