

He was born on July 14, 1938 to Lester and Tola Butterfield. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1956. He married his sweetheart, Virginia Lexes on August 29, 1958. They were married for 58 years.
DeLoy was hard working all his life. He started working at a young age and never learned to retire. He worked as a sheep camp tender, in construction, and at Kennecott Copper for 30 years, and then continued working in his mind until the very end. He was a generous and giving man who would go without so his loved ones would not.
He is survived by his wife Virginia, children, Arlene (Blaine) Williams, Sandy Nielson, Bryan (Polly); daughter-in-law Laurie, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn, Sharon (Gene) Thompson, Sue (Jim) Hanni, Peggy (Duane) Park; brothers-in-law, Larry (Kathy) Lexes and Mike Lexes. He was preceded in death by his son, Jim; parents, Lester and Tola; in-laws Gus and Betty Lexes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at the Hunter Stake Center, 3737 South 5600 West, West Valley City. There will be a viewing on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City and one prior to the services on Saturday from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff at IMC Hospital, Rocky Mountain Hospice, and Spring Creek Healthcare for the loving care in his final days. A very special thank you to our CNA, Whitney. The family would also like to thank Liz at Legacy Village for her compassion and support.
