

Dorothy Rodes Cook McCulley, 76, passed away July 17, 2017, at Intermountain Medical Center, in Murray, Utah, shortly after suffering a heart attack. She stayed long enough for her son Michael to travel from Idaho to be with her when she passed.
Dorothy was born December 18, 1940, at Dallas, Texas, to Dorothy Rucker and William Benton Cook. She later lived in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, where she majored in Elementary Education.
She married Edward Walling, later divorced. She married Jessie Lewis McCulley, August 15, 1983, at Salt Lake City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Dorothy worked at Sears for many years. She later worked at Discover Card, where she was working when she retired. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked in the church library for several years. Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and her daughter, Colleen Walling Evenson. She is survived by her son, Shawn Michael Walling, and her grandchildren, Angela Colleen Walling and Jordan Jamal “JJ” Valdez. She is also survived by seven step children, Ed Walling, Art McCulley, Mari (Nelson) Miles, Tom (Shawna) McCulley, Karin (Dirk) Parker, Richard McCulley, and Paul McCulley; and at least 17 step grandchildren, and 6 step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 21, 2017, at the LDS Copperhill Third Ward chapel, 6755 West 3800 South, West Valley, at noon. A viewing for friends and family will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah.
