Jane was born in Price, Utah, on June 4, 1951, to Margaret “Peggy” Hilton Nelson and Ernest LaVar Nelson. She graduated from Carbon County High School in 1969 and went on to serve in the United States Army Reserve as a dental assistant. During her service, she traveled the world while caring for and serving our veterans, receiving an honorable discharge in 1988.
Jane continued her career as a dental assistant and served in several leadership positions within the dental assisting association. Later in life, she found another way to serve by working as an aide and educator for children in her community.
In September 1980, Jane married Scott Jarvis in the Salt Lake Temple. They shared 46 years of marriage and were blessed with two beautiful children through adoption, John and Stephanie. Her family was her greatest joy.
Jane enjoyed camping, reading—especially Harry Potter—and family vacations to Disneyland. Most of all, she loved helping others. Whether caring for family, friends, children, or members of her community, Jane gave her time and love freely.
Jane will be remembered for her kind heart, wonderful sense of humor, bright smile, and unconditional love. Her greatest legacy is the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Jarvis; son, John Jarvis; daughter, Stephanie Jarvis; and sister, Debbie Nadeau (husband, Phil Nadeau)
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Ernest Nelson; sister, Brent Lingos; brother-in-law, Jim Lingos; brother, Terry Nelson; and niece, Faye Lingos Clark.
Though she will be deeply missed, Jane’s love, laughter, kindness, and beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Until we meet again, Mom. We love you.
