Dick Anderson passed away January 9, 2014 in Salt Lake City, UT.
Dick was born Sept 20, 1934 to Oscar and Ebba Anderson in Salt Lake City, UT. He grew up in Salt Lake, and graduated from South High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years as a driver (chauffeur) to military officers in Fort Ord, in Salinas, California.
He met Kenna Lee Hitchcock in the spring of 1959. They married on November 14, 1959, and were parents to two sons, Richard and Kevin. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 20, 1969.
Dick was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as a ward clerk and executive secretary.
Dick enjoyed many years camping, fishing, boating and hunting with his sons, and in later years traveled often with his wife.
On May 3, 1990 he was blessed with the gift of a heart transplant, which afforded him the opportunity to see both sons marry and welcome five beautiful grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ebba Anderson.
He is survived by Kenna, his wife of 54 years; son(s) Richard (Kelsie), and Kevin (Jill), grandchildren Jordan, London, Shay, Kanyon, and Tyler; and great granddaughter Brooklyn.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 W. 4100 S., West Valley City, UT 84120.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel on 4145 S. 3920 W. West Valley City, UT 84120, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
