1924-2014
West Valley City, UT – On May 30, 2014, Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend to many, Efro Hartt Sanchez passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.
Born on November 3, 1924, to Shelby & Clorinda Romero Hartt, she had 10 siblings, Levi, Steven, Allen, Claudina (Vigil), Cordilia (Martinez), Tom, Elba, Bernie, Frank and Minnie. She was raised in Ranchos De Taos, NM, where her life centered on her family, sacrifice, persistence and hard work. On April 17, 1946 she married Alfonso Sanchez and together they raised their seven children, Betty (Jimmy) Trujillo, Joseph Sanchez, Monica Sanchez, Johnny (Linda) Sanchez, Cynthia (Dana) Vigil-Fowler, Christina (Johnny) Trujillo and Steven (Terry) Sanchez.
Grandma had many passions in life including family, shopping and gardening. Family was the center of her universe and she made sure that the value of family and unconditional love was passed on to her children. Her children and grandchildren have many memories of her homemade tamales, red chili and numerous family gatherings. Shopping came naturally to Grandma and one could say maybe she loved it more than the average person. Clothes, jewelry and porcelain dolls were her favorite.
Grandma possessed a beauty that is hard to describe and one could say it was illuminating. Her beauty seemed to radiate from within and would often have others wondering what products she was using. There were no products, just a sense of happiness and dignity. She was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she served & volunteered in many capacities.
Her parents, husband Alfonso Sanchez, daughter Monica Sanchez, son Johnny Sanchez as well as her siblings precede her in death. Her children Betty, Joseph, Cynthia, Christina, Steven, as well as 21 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive her. The family would like to thank Deacon Doug for his continued support and never failing to bring her communion as well as Alpha Home Care and 5 Star Hospice.
