Elnora Jane Malmstrom passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born February 7, 1935, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Rachel Hermansen and Ellis LeRoy Andersen. The eldest of four children, she was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elnora loved spending time with her beloved grandmother, Minnie Hermansen, whose warmth and love were a lasting influence on her life. She also found joy at the Sandberg Ranch in southern Utah, where she spent happy days with her cousins, building memories that stayed with her throughout her life.
On August 23, 1951, in Elko Nevada she married Jack B. Malmstrom. Their marriage, grounded in love and mutual respect, lasted until his passing on March 12, 2008.Together, they raised four children – Jacqueline (John) Olsen, Julie (Mike) Ellis, Kipp Malmstrom, and William Malmstrom-in a home full of faith laughter, and love. Their bond was one of deep affection, and they often danced together with a joy that was unmistakable. Though Jack is no longer with us, it brings comfort to know that they are now reunited, continuing their dance and love story beyond this life.
From humble beginnings, she carried a strength that would become the foundation of five generations – each one a branch from the tree she and her beloved husband, Jack planted together. Elnora was a woman of many talents, whether it was embroidery, knitting, crochet, or needle point, each piece was a testament to her patience and devotion. These weren’t just creations, they were treasures, threads of the soul, filled with love and care. To hold one was to feel her presence, her warmth and her unwavering love – a treasure that will continue to comfort, connect, and carry her spirit across the years. Elnora also loved gardening and the outdoors. She kept a warm, immaculate home and served in the P.T.A. during her children's school years. For a short time, she was a proud member of the Bountiful Sweet Adelines.
She is survived by her children, six grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her brothers: Howard, Donald, Richard, and her twin grandsons, Jason and Justin Leyba. Elnora’s life was a quiet tapestry threaded with faith, creativity, and devotion. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched- in the kindness she showed, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.
