at his home in Cottage Glen, in Tooele, Utah
He was born on June 10, 1927 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Larn and Hazel Mae (Clark) Stayton.
Floyd grew up in Arkansas. He dropped out of school in the 3rd grade to help support his family and joined the Navy in 1945, serving in World War II. He worked many jobs over the years, but after moving to Utah in 1968 he began work for Auto Salvage where he worked his way up to Sales Manager. He worked with Joe and Jerry Knight for over 16 years. After a hard fall, while chasing his nephew, he broke his back and reluctantly accepted early retirement in 1985.
Floyd first married Gilda Ann Gardner in 1951. They later divorced and he met and married the love of his life, Betty Ann (Wolfe) Stayton. Floyd and Betty were together for over 40 years. Floyd lived life to the fullest and enjoyed working on cars, singing, dancing, and most of all talking and meeting new people. The man never knew a stranger and no one ever forgot him.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Larn and Hazel Stayton, his brothers, Lloyd and Bill, step-son Dean, and his beloved spouse Betty.
Floyd is survived by his son George (Debbie) Stayton of Magna, Utah, his daughter Melissa (Tom) Larsen of Grantsville, Utah, step-daughter Rayleen Moon of Tooele, Utah, step-daughter Elaine (Mark) Binning of Bakersfield, California, step-son DeVon Haning of Salt Lake City, Utah; his brother Bobby Stayton of Sacramento; his grandchildren Ray Dean Haning, Tricia Haning, Alan Smith, Robert Smith, David Smith, Becky Smith, Kevin Moon, Cory Moon, Sean Stayton, Ryan McKinnon, Lisa McKinnon, Brandy Bishop, Brenda Padilla, Matt Binning, Shawn Binning, Michael Binning, Patrick Binning, Andrew Binning, Felicia Street, Cher Evans, Shannon Hardy, Dustin Obermiller, Anthony Graham, Michael Graham, Tory Thompson, Ocean Larsen, Nevaeh Larsen; his many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews. As a man who knew no strangers, friends quickly became family and his survivors include many others that claimed him as an honorary Grandpa or Uncle Floyd.
The family would like to thank Cottage Glen Assisted Living and Canyon Home Health and Hospice for all of their help.
A memorial service will be held at Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120 at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 24th. A visitation will be held prior to services from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm. Burial will follow services at Valley View Cemetery.
