Gayle M Sweeney

Gayle Moss Sweeney was born April 15, 1943 in the town of Magna, Utah. Gayle was the youngest of five children born to Herman Dick Moss and Lydia Fay Reid Moss. She passed away peacefully at her residence in Summit Senior Living, Kearns, UT.

Gayle’s life in Magna was an ideal life for any child. She was quite a bit younger than her siblings & enjoyed her childhood with many of her pets. She talked often of all her friends and neighbors that were close to the family. As a young girl, she met her friends for life, Kathleen Day, Marianne Turpin & Gaylene Clements. They stayed by her side until the end. She attended Cyprus High School. After high school she married her first husband, Brent Smart. They had 4 children & raised them in the town of Heber City, Utah. The love of her life came to her later, Kent Sweeney. He spent the last of his years making her happy. She loved him dearly.

She worked for many years as a beautician in West Valley. After her move to Heber City, she became an exceptionally talented cake decorator for Bate’s Bakery. She made several wedding cakes for family members as well. She would never admit to how talented she was in this field. She was a faithful member with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served many positions in the church, but her favorite was the Primary program. She would often be found singing or playing on her piano primary songs daily. Her excitement for Road Shows were contagious. When it came to planning a Road Show, she went all out.

Gayle was preceded in death by her sweet husband, Kent Sweeney; her son, Troy Smart; her brother’s Duane & Arvon Moss; and her sister Merle Moss Wall.

Gayle is survived by her 3 children, Trish (Scott) Neil, Tracy (Brad) Mulliner and Tadd (Sue) Smart; 13 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren; her sister Maureen Condie and many nieces & nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 2-4:00 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home located at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah.
