Hue V. Duong, age 65, passed away peacefully January 17, 2019 due to complications related to cancer. He was born June 25, 1953 in Saigon, Vietnam to Thai Huynh and Muoi Tan Tang. As a youth, he had a creative mind and a passion working with his hands building gadgets, leading to him working as a mechanic for the U.S. Air Force. After the Vietnam War, he immigrated to the United States in 1981 where he lived the classic American dream. He worked hard to obtain the opportunity to attend trade school where he became a certified mechanic. He was employed at a car dealership for many years along with undertaking additional jobs repairing vehicles from home. Through his dedication and drive, he opened his own mechanic shop, West Valley Auto Repair, in 1996. He was a proud business owner for over 20 years before he retired in 2018. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and waverunning with his family. He had a fondness for animals, especially dogs, birds, and fish. His pastimes also included gardening in the backyard and cooking, his specialty was French beef. He was the oldest of nine children; three brothers and five sisters. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Nguyen Thi Mot, and youngest son, Duong The Quyen (Usana). He is survived by his current loving wife, Hanh Huynh, five children, Hung (Phaylinh) Duong, Huong (Hung) Nguyen, Son Duong, Elizabeth (Morgan) Fetherolf, Jennifer (Eric) Held, and six beautiful grandchildren. Viewing services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM and Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 9:00 AM-10:00AM at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home located at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah. He will be moved Saturday, January 26, 2019 to Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapels and Cremation Center (1007 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, Utah) where cremation services will begin at 12:00PM. After the cremation services, there will be a reception held at his local Buddhist temple, Chua Lien Hoa (3595 W 3650 S, West Valley City, Utah). As per his wishes, in lieu of flowers you may donate to his local Buddhist temple, Chua Lien Hoa, located at 3595 W 3650 S, West Valley City, Utah or your preferred charitable organization in his name.
