Paul Worthen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Pops, Papa, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025—just two days shy of his 79th birthday.
A proud native of Utah, Paul was born in Santa Monica, California, but his heart and family roots were firmly planted in Panguitch, Utah. It was there he learned the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family that guided his entire life.
In 1969, Paul married Shirley Arnesen, and they shared 18 years of marriage. Together, they raised four wonderful children and built a life full of love, dedication, and family memories.
Later in life, Paul found love again in a beautiful, serendipitous meeting at Hires with Janet—the woman he proudly called “the love of my life.” They were married for 33 years, and their love brought joy, laughter, and a large, blended family that grew to include more than 36 cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their time together was a blessing to all who knew them.
Life took him through the sorrow of losing two beloved daughters, Amy Jo and Tracy, whose spirits stayed close to his heart.
He leaves a lasting legacy with his beautiful wife, Janet Worthen; his sons, Travis Paul Worthen (Michelle) and Shane Worthen (Cami Galetti); his daughters, Deb Butterfield (Chad Butterfield) and Michelle Langley; and his loyal dog and companion, Toby.
Paul was a devoted provider, spending his career as a buyer for the Granite School District. He was known for his integrity and his work ethic. But more than anything, Paul will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were his world, and spending time with them was his greatest joy in life.
He never forgot the people and places that shaped him, and he made sure we knew how much we mattered. As Paul often reminded us through his favorite Beatles song, “In My Life,” there are places we’ll remember and stories we’ll forever tell. But above all, in our lives—we love you more.
There will be no formal viewing. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on June 7, 2025, at Lone Peak Park, Sandy, Utah, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
