February 28, 1929 to March 18, 2022
Jean was born on February 28, 1929 in Sandy, Utah, the sixth of eleven children, to William Roy and Mearl Marie Wenerstrom. Jean graduated from Jordan High School in 1947.
She married the love of her life, Elmer Earl Sadler, on September 30, 1948. Jean and Elmer shared more than 68 wonderful years together before Elmer passed suddenly on November 24, 2016. They had ten children together and raised their large family under the warmth of their love.
Jean lived a life filled with love and caring. She was the kindest and gentlest person anyone ever knew. Such words may strike some as mere exaggeration, but anyone who was fortunate enough to know her would assure you these words are no exaggeration. She was devoted to her church and she loved her family. She loved flowers. She loved birds (the cardinal was always her favorite). She loved her baseball and basketball and “her” teams, the Colorado Rockies, the Utah Jazz and the Utah Utes. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying books featuring lighthouses.
Jean loved her kids and made everything a home could need. She made matching outfits for the kids to wear to parades and the clothes they wore to school. She loved to crochet and her talent has earned her the Sweepstakes award at the Utah State Fair. In her later years, she mastered technology too -- she loved to receive and share text messages with her kids and grandkids and texted regularly with her sister.
Jean is survived by her sisters, Donna (Harold) Cardwell of Roosevelt, Utah and Deanna (Joseph) Anderson of South Jordan, Utah; and by her children Steven Lee (Sheena) Sadler; Colleen (Gary) Wilde, David Kent Sadler, Richard Dale (Lynda) Sadler, Martin Robert (Joy) Sadler, Douglas Edward (Patty) Sadler, Lynette (Bret) Poulsen, Randal Wayne (Melody) Sadler and Paula Sadler; and by 18 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Elmer, her son Larry; her parents Roy and Mearl; and her siblings – brothers Harold, Bill, Jack, and Bert, and her sisters Lucille Jaynes Westover, Joyce Neuenschwander, Ardeth Wenerstrom, Bonnie Dunn, and Karen Jensen.
Jean will be missed. But her love, kindness and quiet resolve remain alive inside all of us.
