Joan Marie Baker

Joan passed away December 9, 2015. She was born May 15, 1930 to Gail Howard Sr. and Marie Sophie Scouten. She graduated from West High School. She married Dean Baker on June 11, 1948. The marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake City Temple on July 5, 1963. Though Joan has met the sunset of her life and we will miss her very much, she is now celebrating her reunion with the love of her life.

Joan was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. She loved her family and she loved helping people. Mom and Dad lived and loved. They will be ornately missed but will be in our hearts forever.

Joan worked with Dean in their Baker Elevator Company. Some of her favorite things were scrapbooking, crafts, reading and music boxes.

Joan is survived by her daughter; Sherry (Lloyd) Fahrni, son; Jeff Baker, granddaughter; Tammy Kirk (John Strickler), sister; Elaine Lawson, brother; Brent (Paula) Perry, Cheryle Baker, Chris Perry, Carol (Bill) Peglau. Joan had ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Dean Baker, son; John Baker, grandchild; Sean Faurchou, brother; Gail H Perry Jr., brother in law; John Lawson.

We would like to give special thanks to Carrington Court Staff and Millcreek Hospice Staff for all they did for Mom.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. Family will receive friends Friday, December 18, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the graveside service at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.
