

John Lawrence Behunin peacefully returned to his heavenly home on February 9, 2022, surrounded by family and his sweetheart Linda. John was born in Standardville, Utah on July 25, 1941. He was the fourth of ten children born to George Harold and Velda Hartle Behunin. A graduate of Carbon High and Carbon College, he also served two years in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma mission. Ten days after returning home, John married Linda Ruth Christensen on July 25, 1964 in the Manti, Utah temple. They have resided in West Valley City for 50 years, where they have raised 5 children and enjoyed 22 grandchildren. John’s family has been his crowning joy, and he tenderly cared for each person in his garden.
John’s meticulous skills in finance led him to credit management for over 40 years. He loves gardening and tinkering around their lovely home, and he and Linda enjoyed traveling with dear friends for many years. John is well known for his church service and as Bishop, where he tenderly influenced friends and neighbors. He and Linda served 3 service missions and one full-time mission together in their later years.
JB will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, expressions of love to everyone passing by, and his positivity despite many years of dementia. He is survived by his wife Linda Ruth Christensen Behunin, Robyn and Wade Knudsen of Henefer, Tom and Kristy Genessy of Folsom, Julie Brakey of Saratoga Springs, Brian and Nan Behunin of Seattle, and Todd and Ashley Behunin of Portland, as well as 18 adoring grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the LDS Meetinghouse on 4586 W. Woodbury Circle in West Valley City, with a viewing from 9:30 am-11 am, and funeral services immediately following for friends and family to call. Interment will be at Valley View Memorial, 4335 W 4100 S @ 2:30.
