Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Joyce Larson Empey, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015. She was born on August 15, 1929 to Frank and Ruby Larson in St. George, UT. She married her sweetheart of 49 years, Wendell Empey. Wendell passed on February 6, 1997.
Joyce felt blessed and lived a full life of 86 years. She was a homemaker most of her life, dedicated to raising 5 children; but, also occasionally worked outside the home. She instilled a strong work ethic in her children, along with guiding principles and values, that she could later enjoy while watching generations of parenting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a patient, kind, and an incredibly strong woman. She attracted and accepted many people into her life. She was rich with wisdom and knowledge. Joyce knew she was blessed to have her family close and looked forward to every outing and visit. She was truly loved and adored by all. We will miss her wisdom, beautiful heart, her smile and laugh. Most of all, we’ll miss her. We love you forever and always!
Her strength and spirit carries on in her five children: Mike (Shana) Empey, Dan (Laurie) Empey, Debra (Jeff) Wirth, Jill (Ed) Castle, and Cindy (Lex) Brady; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and, three siblings living in Las Vegas: sister, Myrna; brothers: Claude and Greg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her grandson Ryan Brady, her sister Pat Warren, brother-in-law and best friend, Don Warren, her brother Duke, and Josephine the 4-legged love that brought her such happiness, unwavering companionship.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Pearl and the excellent team of healthcare professionals at LDS Hospital for their help and guidance.
