Joyce was born on March 2, 1936, in Waterflow, New Mexico, to Don LeRoy Stock and Lora Elizabeth Crane Stock. She graduated from Kirtland Central High School in New Mexico and later attended Brigham Young University.
Joyce married Adrian Salazar Garcia. They shared 52, years of marriage until Adrian's passing in 2009. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with three children, Michael, Shauna and John. Joyce dedicated much of her life to caring for her family and creating a warm and loving home. She treasured her role as a wife, mother, and homemaker, and her family was the center of her life.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joyce devoted many years of service through various callings, including Gospel Doctrine teacher, Relief Society teacher, and primary teacher. She worked in the church genealogy library teaching others. Joyce loved the gospel and found joy in serving others.
Joyce had a deep passion for family history and genealogy. She had an immaculate family history that will bless future generations.
She also found great joy in gardening, affectionately calling it “playing in the mud.” Her garden reflected her patience, creativity, and love for the beauty of the world around her.
Joyce will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her faith, her service, and the love she shared with those around her. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched and the generations of family who cherish her memory.
Joyce is survived by her children: Michael Adrian, Shauna Irene Garat and John Allan (Ellen) Garcia; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brother, Larry Don Stock. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adrian; brother, LeRoy Stock
Funeral service for Joyce will be held on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Taylorsville 10th ward, 4950 South 1950 West, Taylorsville, UT. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South in West Valley City, and again on Friday morning one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
