Justin Houskeeper

Justin Craig Houskeeper, 48, passed away of natural causes, December 20, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. He was born May 27, 1974, in Murray, Utah, to Craig Grant and Kayleen Lee Houskeeper. He was the oldest of four sons; Justin, Adam (Vanessa), Cameron (Tiffanie), and Clint (Heather).

Justin grew up in the Kearns area. Because tablets and IPhones were still the stuff dreams were made of, he spent much of his time outside with friends riding bikes, skateboarding, camping, fishing, boating, and sledding. He loved sports and played little league football with his friends and then in high school, where he lettered for Kearns High School. In his youth, Justin participated in church activities. He particularly loved scouting. He attained the rank of Eagle when he was 16, the first Eagle Scout in the Copper City Ward.

Justin finished his formal education at Kearns High School and started a job at a brand new McDonalds where he toiled for two years. He moved on to be a cook at a brand new Red Robin restaurant, a career move he would never regret. He rose up through the ranks at Red Robin, eventually becoming a district manager; supervising six stores in the Salt Lake area. Red Robin is a company that Justin loved and respected and Red Robin returned the favor. He bled BYU blue, always dressing in BYU colors and was never without a team hat. Justin had a friendly rivalry with neighbors who are avid U of U fans. Occasionally, a blue Y would show up in their windows after a BYU win against the Utah Utes! Justin also had a love for U of U football as Red Robin was involved in tailgating for their games. And, he never lost hope for his beloved Chicago Bears (da Bears). He also enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Justin is survived by his parents, brothers, and children: Gage, Ashton, Jordan, and Deja. He is also the proud grandpa to Reiker, Reilan, and Athena.

A viewing will be held Monday, January 2, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 3, 2022, 11:00 am, at the Kearns Utah West Stake Center, 6175 Borax Avenue, Kearns, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the service at 10:00-10:45.

Internment at Valley View Memorial Park following the service.
