June 18, 1933 – October 3, 2026
Kazue Noda Horikami, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, in Flower Mound, Texas, surrounded by loving family.
Born on June 18, 1933, in Kobe city, Hyougo prefecture, Japan, to Kikuo and Tsurue Noda. After her father’s death, Kazue, at age 13, left school and began helping her mother care and provide for the family including three younger sisters in the aftermath of WWII. She earned her high school diploma equivalent while working full time. At age 20 she became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a year and a half later faithfully served as a full-time missionary in the Far East Mission in Japan. Upon completion of her mission, she married Tamaru Horikami in Japan and settled in Hawaii. Together they raised four children before later divorcing.
Kazue was a devoted daughter, mother, and wife who was known by all as an excellent seamstress and amazing cook. Her tangible love and care for her posterity will be missed dearly. Neighbors and friends were blessed by her sweet smile, spirit, and service as she often knocked on their doors with a delicious meal or treat.
A true disciple of Jesus Christ, Kazue willingly served in many church callings and responsibilities including Japanese Sunday school teacher, relief society president, and temple worker in the Dallas Texas, Lubbock Texas, Mount Timpanogos Utah, and South Jordan Utah Temples. Her love for the Savior and His temples continued through her battle with dementia as she was able to participate in the temple except for the last year of her life.
Kazue is survived by her sisters Yoshie (Lamar Walbeck) and Yuri Bennett; children Melvin (Sheryl), Cynthia (Mike Case), David (Lynelle), and Colleen (Sheldon Sir Cable); 22 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, older infant brother, and sister Atsuko Akagi.
Public viewing will be held on November 7, 2026, from 10:30 am until 11:30 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse located oat 10975 South Prescott Drive, Sandy, Utah, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm. A reception/luncheon will be held immediately following the services.
