Larry and I knew each other in High School. At our HS reunion he told me he was diagnosed with ALS. He seemed scared but ready to fight. 
I am so grateful he shared his journey on facebook. It was a learning and inspiring experience to converse with him. 
I am so glad I was able to make it to Murray Park when he asked people to come and see him. I will treasure being able to shake his hand and see him again. 
You have earned blessings Larry. Your determination and positive attitude gave your children and grandchildren more happy memories with you. Love you!

I never met Larry but admired his strength and resolve battling ALS from afar ( UK )He was an inspiration and I enjoyed reading about the love he felt for his children and his travels in his final mobile years . 
You must be very proud of him for the awareness of ALS that he achieved

Life is full of milestones…some good…some sad. Larry’s passing hurts in many ways, but I’m also comforted by the fact that I believe he is free of pain and of this horrible disease. I mourn for his family and those of us here. I cheer for Larry. We went to high school together and were so fortunate to grow up where we did and when we did. Our high school class was and continues to be tight. It didn’t matter what “clique” you were in, we were all Lancers and proud of it. I remember eating lunch with Larry during high school and laughing together. His sense of humor and wit was contagious. I’ve probably only seen him a handful of times since we all embarked on separate paths 37 years ago, but each time I did it was like hopping in the proverbial Delorean and going back to the good old days. I will miss you, old friend. Just know that you lived your life well and inspired so many. RIP and as we Greeks say, May your memory be eternal.

I remember first meeting Larry at one of our support groups during my first visit to Utah.  What initially struck me was his kindness, smile and support to all in the group.  Through the years, I was fortunate to visit with him a number of times and attend Advocacy Conferences in Washington D.C. along side him. His passion for helping others, though he himself was living with ALS, and increasing ALS awareness through his travels to the county’s MLB fields was inspiring. He was truly an ALS Hero. 

Larry Ujhely ran Team Jelly for several years, raising much needed funds for the ALS community in Utah. Team Jelly was one of the biggest teams we had each year for the Walks and it was such a pleasure to see their family and friends show up to support Larry and the ALS community. 

In 2019, Larry had created a shirt for his team, designing a logo to represent the ALS Warrior that each and every person battling the disease truly is. The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter highlighted Team Jelly and Larry's unique design, honoring them with the Team Spirit Award. 

Larry, you will be missed tremendously by both the ALS community and our Rocky Mountain Chapter staff!

The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter is honored to have served Larry Ujhely and his family throughout his ALS journey. Over the last several years, Larry became a pillar in the ALS community. For many, he was a voice of wisdom, sharing his experiences with the disease to those just starting their journey in our Chapter support groups. He was a generous man, full of grit and determination, as he spoke for those with ALS and shared his experience on Capitol Hill with members of Congress to fight for access to better healthcare for individuals affected by ALS. 

Not only did Larry and his family spread awareness of this disease, but he also led the way in raising funds for others living with ALS throughout Utah, creating one of the biggest teams, Team Jelly, at our Utah Walk to Defeat ALS® for several years. 

Wherever he went, Larry spread his message of positivity and triumph, fighting to the very end for himself, his family and the ALS community. Even as he battled the disease himself, there was not a moment that he let ALS win. He was an ALS warrior through and through and his legacy will be carried with us every day.

my heart will forever hurt over this happening. i might never have been as close with you as the rest of the family but i will forever treasure the bond we had whenever i visited you and the family for those 6 weeks. i will be forever grateful for the treatment i received and you showing me things i thought i’d never see, those were some of the happiest days of my life and its thanks to you. your suffering is over and you are in a better place now. rest in peace. ❤️

Extending my deepest sympathies to Larry’s family and friends. I’m not sure how I started following Larry on Facebook; likely friended over shared ALS connections, resources. I lost my husband, John, to the devastation called ALS, in 2014. It takes an enormous amount of courage to live with this disease, and it seemed obvious that Larry had that in abundance. The love for his family was also so evident. I hope that beautiful memories may provide solace. And that someday ALS will be eradicated and no longer will special people suffer this long goodbye. I forget where Larry lived here, but I busted him looking at a picture of us on his computer <3 grabbed a picture to brag to the girls, most likely. He was such a handsome guy. I can see Kai, maybe looking a bit like Larry. 

I remember this night, I wanted to see if we could get in free to the Violent Femmes because the  tickets were sold out or something. You grumbled a little, but reluctantly agreed because "Add it up" was your Go-To Karaoke song. We were out at the pool all day and you had just thrown a T-shirt on that was laying on the cement and Jordon told me that I looked pretty and you needed to change. You changed,came out and asked who was prettier now?
You were.
I'll always remember with an aching heart how great the good times were with you and Ness, Jordy, and Zie.
I hope that whatever magic or consequence brought us together, over all the miles, bring our families laughs and that they remember our time together as dearly as I do.
I'll miss you till I'm gone.

I always looked forward to talking to Larry. He always made the best out of every situation and had the best jokes. When the world cup was going on I went in and watched it with him for a little bit, being a soccer fan. My walkie kept going off with call lights and he said, “are you ever going to do your job XD” He never failed to bring a smile to my face. It has been an honor to be in his life. 

Lawrence , you left many lovely memories behind . Like the time when you were over here in Belfast . You organised a boat trip for the day in Portrush for a lot of your Belfast cousins and me your uncle Herbie . I Brought  Corrie  my Grandson with me that day and we really enjoyed it very much . It was a great experience. And the lovely lunch in the  Portside for all my  family it was a great day and we have photos to remind us of your kindness, all of the Harper families gathered that day . We were all sad to see you go back to Utah . I hope you rest in peace Lawrence, you’re in a better place with your mum Rose 🌹 and nana Lily . Forever in our hearts ♥️  Never to be forgotten. My husband Marty menousek and Larry we're both diagnosed with ALS within a month of each other.  Marty always enjoyed talking with Larry and getting to know him better. So grateful that Larry was able to spend more time with his children and grandchildren. He was an inspiration.

So many special conversations with Larry,we spoke of family,memories of our childhoods,my Shangri-la Mountain Home he loved seeing pictures and hearing stories of my memories of my farm.He told me of his living in Ireland.Soccer and music of every kind.Lastly we spoke of life and death a hard conversation sometimes.He became a special friend I was proud to care for him and to know him!To his family he loved you all very much and was so proud that all his grand kids resembled him.Rest Easy my friend

I will miss you dearly Larry, but I am so glad you are no longer suffering, and know that I will eventually see you again. To your family, I can only say how sorry I am for your loss. Your dad was genuinely one of the finest people I ever knew.
