With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Laura June Bingham, on October 11, 2026, at the age of 83. Laura was born on May 29, 1943, in Garfield, Utah. On August 12, 1962, she married the love of her life, Gerald Owen Bingham.
Laura was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, and caregiver who devoted her life to creating a warm and welcoming home. She took great pride in keeping things neat and beautiful and taught her children the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the joy found in life’s simple blessings.
Gifted with her hands, Laura loved sewing and crocheting. She made clothes for her children and tiny outfits for their Barbie dolls, filling each creation with love and thoughtfulness.
Laura and her husband, Jerry, took great pride in their yard. Their beautiful flowers and carefully maintained landscaping earned them the “Most Beautiful Yard” award almost every year. Their yard was a true labor of love and a reflection of the care and beauty Laura brought to everything she nurtured.
Some of our fondest childhood memories are of coming home from school to the smell of freshly baked cookies and enjoying one of Laura’s delicious home-cooked meals. These simple acts of love became treasured memories that we will carry with us forever. All of her grandchildren loved her homemade strawberry jam, a special treat they will always remember. She also taught her children the tradition of canning tomatoes to use in homemade recipes, passing along skills and family traditions that could be enjoyed for generations.
Laura loved the outdoors, especially camping and visiting Lake Powell. She enjoyed boating, relaxing by the water, and spending time with family. During their time at Lake Powell, she also shared her love of handcrafts by teaching her grandchildren how to cross-stitch, creating special memories and passing along a skill they could treasure. She also had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved rescue dogs, Bea and Moki. They were cherished members of the family and quickly discovered that they had moved into a five-star resort where they were treated like royalty—and everyone knew who ran the house!
After Jerry passed away, Laura showed remarkable courage and independence by continuing to travel with family and friends. She embraced opportunities to make new memories, even as she deeply missed her husband.
Laura especially loved the holidays and the joy of bringing her family together. Christmas was a special time in her home, filled with warmth, love, and treasured traditions. One of the sweetest memories her grandchildren will carry is how she let them play with the little car ornaments on her Christmas tree. While she took such pride in keeping her home beautiful and everything in its place, those little hands exploring her Christmas tree were always welcome. It was one more way she showed that the happiness of her grandchildren meant more to her than anything else.
Grandma Laura will always be remembered for her joyful giggle, her ability to laugh at herself, and the warmth she brought to every gathering. She loved playing card games with family and picking only the M&M’s out of the trail mix. She greeted loved ones at the door with big hugs and a kiss on the cheek, making each visit feel special.
Her generosity was just as memorable. Whether painting a nursery for a new great-grandbaby, attending dance recitals, sewing curtains, preparing Halloween treats, or surprising someone with a useful gift, Laura found thoughtful ways to show up for those she loved. She believed in giving where it mattered and helping where it counted.
Laura was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Gerald Owen Bingham. She is survived by her four children, Tamera Healy (Rick Healy), Lori Smith (Dave Smith), Lynda McGee (Kirt McGee), and Bradley Bingham (Nicole Bingham), along with her 15 beloved grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Her love, lessons, and cherished family traditions will live on through the generations she leaves behind.
Laura’s faith and the promise of eternal families bring comfort and hope to those who love her. We find peace in knowing that family bonds continue beyond this life and that a joyful reunion awaits.
We will miss her homemade cookies, loving hands, beautiful garden, joyful giggle, and, most of all, the comfort of simply having Mom here.
Mom, thank you for the home you made, the love you gave, and the example you set. Your hands may now be at rest, but the love you stitched into our lives will remain in our hearts forever.
Until we meet again.
