She graduated from West High School and later worked in the lab at Cottonwood Hospital for 20 years. Married Bill Carter on June 10, 1948. They later divorced after having three children together, Jerry, Sandra and Christine. On September 26, 1980 she married the love of her life, Marvin Christensen, who had a very special daughter, De Anna Irons, that she loved as her own. Their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 16, 1992. After too short of time together, Marv passed away from cancer. He gave LaVon many wonderful memories of traveling in their antique cars. She traveled extensively and loved to shop. LaVon was a loyal friend and so much fun to be around.
She is survived by her brother, Don (Marilyn) Nettles and her children: Jerry (Ruthann) Carter; Sandra (Mike) Green; Christine (Chuck) Farnworth; and De Anna (John) Irons; 14 Grandchildren and 36 Great-Grandchildren. LaVon was also blessed to become a Great-Great-Grandma. Preceded in death by William D. Carter and Marvin L. Christensen; parents LeRoy Nettles and Alice Benson, sister Cozette Kort.
On Sunday, September 8, 2024 family and friends may pay their respects from 6pm to 8pm at Valley View Memorial Park Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. A viewing will be held at 11am prior to the funeral service at 12 noon on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the above location. Interment to follow at Valley View Memorial Park Cemetery.
