

1941-2015
Our cherished husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, Lewis Wade Pierce, 73, died peacefully at his home in West Valley City on January 25, 2015 from complications due to diabetes and kidney failure. He was the first child and only son born to Thelma S. and Lewis L. Pierce in Price, Utah on December 21, 1941 and spent his childhood living in Wellington, UT. Lewis graduated from Carbon High School in 1960 and immediately left home to pursue life’s adventures all over the world including Yellowstone, Alaska, Thailand, Houston at NASA during the moon landing, and Las Vegas at Area 51 where he worked on radio relay. In 1972, he moved to Kemmerer, WY and worked for Utah Power & Light for eight months before finally moving to Salt Lake City, UT where he spent the rest of his life. He continued working for UP&L as an electronic journeyman for 25 years before retiring. Lewis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held various callings including the Young Special interest where he met Beverly Slack in 1973. On January 23, 1976 they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. He loved everything to do with science, nature, and history. He collected meteorites, loved watching and riding in helicopters, and was a member of the Utah Paleontology Society.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Beverly S. Pierce and four children--David Pierce, Paul Pierce, Robert (Jenny) Pierce, and Heather (Tyler) Timothy--and two grandsons, Mayson Pierce and Heather’s son who arrives in May; sisters, Leatrice (Ray) Reddington, Louise Jones, and Shelley Malmgren. Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 30, 2015, at 11 A.M. at the Hunter South Stake Center, 5180 West 4700 South, West Valley City. Friends may call at the Valley View Funeral Home at 4335 West 4100 South, Thursday, January 29, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. and at the stake center, Friday, January 30, 2015 10:00-10:45 a.m., prior to services.
