Lois was born in Murray, Utah on April 16, 1936, to Loraine Mecham and Edith Killian. Lois was raised on a farm in the Snyderville Basin Park City, Utah and then moved to Vale, Oregon to a farm in 1949. She absolutely loved animals and carried a chicken around when she was a little girl and had to be told by her Dad to keep putting the chicken down. She met and married Thad Hansen in Vale and they later divorced. She was introduced to Ralph Whitaker by Will Wallace, at the Deseret Industries where they all worked. Ralph drove a truck and Lois worked as a cook in the kitchen. She loved to cook and loved the handicapped people whom she met and worked with and was proud to call them friends. William Wallace has been their friend and always just a phone call away for 40 years. Lois will be and is missed by her loyal dog Rose. Lois has had many dogs whom she always bonded with and loved with all her heart. They have been an integral part of her life. She raised 7 children and was always tried to keep them and the house in order. A monumental task. She was proud to be a Mom and a home marker while we were all growing up.
Lois was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Sindy Long. Survived by her wonderful husband, Ralph Whitaker, whom has been by her side while she was in care and everday of their marriage. Ralph has been a dedicated husband, friend, and provider for Lois for almost 40 years. Also survived are her children, daughter, Amy Hansen: sons, Arron (Sandra) Hansen, Vaughn Hansen, Randy (Sandy) Hansen, Andy Hansen, and Troy (Louise) Hansen. She leaves 19 grandchildren, and 44 great grandchildren.
