Lynda Simmons Magill

Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on August 25, 2024, at her home in West Valley City, Utah. Lynda will be remembered for her many acts of love and service to her family and others.

Lynda was born on June 15, 1942, the oldest of four children born to Rex and Maxine Simmons. She lived in Magna, Kearns and West Valley City, Utah. Following her graduation from Granger High School, she worked as a cosmetologist for several years before focusing on raising her family. She later worked for First Interstate Bank, Build a Bear Workshop and as a preschool teacher.

She married the love of her life on April 23, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lynda was a wonderful mother to her two children. She was always supportive of their interests and made holidays and celebrations extra special. Her sweet, charismatic personality made her a joy to be around.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many leadership positions within the ward and stake Young Women and Relief Society organizations. While she loved working with those sisters, her favorite place to serve was with the children as a chorister, activity days leader and teacher. She led a life of service, taking countless meals and treats to others. She was fond of secret service and was known to leave her items on the porch, ring the doorbell and hide in the bushes.

Lynda is preceded in death by her parents Rex and Maxine Simmons and her sister Gayle Simmons. She is survived by her husband Arthur Magill of West Valley City, Utah; children: Troy (Kris) Magill of Herriman, Utah, Deborah (Steven) Daniels of Parker, Colorado; grandchildren: Courtney Magill, Trent (Alaina) Magill, Tanner Magill, Kaitlyn Daniels, Nathaniel Daniels, Sarah Daniels, siblings: Shirley (Jerry) Jones, Marlene (Herb) Mudrow, and David (Susan) Simmons.

A public viewing for Lynda will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120.

A funeral service will occur Friday, August 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4460 W Courtney Drive, West Valley City, Utah 84120. A viewing prior to the service will take place from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. The interment will occur Friday, August 30, 2024, at Valley View Memorial Park in the Lilac Garden.
