Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin passed away unexpectedly Sunday in her home in Magna. Marilyn was the second daughter of Thomas P Shaw and Gwendolyn C Rasmussen, both deceased.
Marilyn married young to William R Eden, deceased, and they had three children, Penny L Eden of Castle Dale, Utah; William R and Barbara L Eden of Price, Utah; Clifford, Patrick and Michelle Eden of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Marilyn later married Jay Soderquist and they had two children Wendy K Soderquist, deceased, and John E and Kristin L Soderquist of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Marilyn married Darrell Bell and they made Magna their beautiful home and were able to enjoy their life together there. They were both sweethearts and friends. They enjoyed spending time together and having their home filled to the rafters with the kids and grandkids, and then great grandkids preparing for the joyful adventure Marilyn had planned for them all, and we all came together at the same time! They spent many joyous years together, working in the woodshop, camping, going on cruises seeing the country, going to trap shoots, golfing, fishing, but most of all Marilyn loved the campfire confessions.
Marilyn had so much love to give and couldn't wait for the next adventure with all of us. She was so young at heart and loved to do things for others, that's what made her truly happy. Marilyn called it a blessing being able to work at Shriners Hospital, she quilted many quilts for the children there, she was also quite a seamstress. She sewed dance costumes for years. She did all the costumes for the Nutcracker and she sewed for her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking at the Gun Club in Magna for many, many years. Marilyn was a Past Matron and a Past Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Marilyn also served in the Relief Society at Lake Ridge 10th Ward, a job she dearly loved getting to know the ladies of her Ward.
If there was fun to be had, you know, Marilyn was right in the middle of it. She brought so much love and happiness to so many people she was involved with. She never failed her duty to take you under her wing and do everything she could to make your life better, happier, and make you feel loved. She will be missed by many because she was dearly loved by all.
Marilyn's Funeral Service will be Friday, December 29, 2023 at Lake Ridge 10th Ward, 7960 W. Dalesend Dr. Magna, UT 84044.
Visitation will start at 11 am and the funeral will be at 12:30. We will not be going to the cemetery afterwards because she will be cremated. We will be having a celebration of life at a later date and join her with Darrell in the Mausoleum at Valley View Mortuary. There will be a luncheon after the funeral Friday Dec 29th.
I, Penny, Marilyn's daughter, am asking that you PLEASE DO NOT WEAR COLOGNE OR PERFUME as I am HIGHLY ALLERGIC and I WILL NOT MISS MY MOTHERS FUNERAL! I do not mean to be rude, but we will not let you in.
