Jeannie was born January 12th, 1957, a freezing Saturday on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation which is located on the boarder of the Dakotas.
She was born to Charlene Harrison (Tobias) and Alvie Harrison Sr. Jeannie was a member of the Húŋkpapha council fire of the Lakota Sioux Tribe.
When Jeannie was a teenager, she joined a carnival that eventually brought her to Salt Lake City, Utah where she ultimately decided to spend her life and have a family.
Her favorite hobbies consisted of jigsaw puzzles, word games, coloring games on her phone, and watching horror movies.
She loved animals, particularly cats, a love which she passed down through her family, one of the loves of her life was the kitty she shared with her partner, Stubby Girl whom they raised from an infant and loved and cared for until she passed at the very old age of 22 years old. As well as the many other cats they took in as strays and provided forever homes for.
However, Jeannies ultimate pride and joy was being a grandmother she loved her grandchildren more than anything else on the planet. Unfortunately, due to declining health she couldn't be as involved with the younger 3 as she was with her oldest and only granddaughter Dominique. But she loved them just as fiercely. Her happiest moments in her final years were when her grandchildren came to visit her when she could no longer go to them.
Jeannie was a very strong-willed woman, she never did anything she didn't want to. She loved to sneak sweets no matter how many diabetes lectures she got. Especially cinnamon gummy bears, which were her favorite sweet treat.
She was a partner, mother, grandmother, and sister, of a family that loved her more than anything and will miss her dearly. As well as her sister Cheryl Johnson who followed her just 2 short days later, like the best friends they always were, never to be apart.
Jeannie is proceeded in death by her Mother Charlene, Father Alvie and her brothers Colman (JJ), Charles (Chuck), Alvie Jr. (Jake), Larry, and David Harrison. Also proceeding her was her late husband, Michael Scanlon.
She leaves behind her life partner and best friend Shawn McGovern, her children and stepchildren David, Bryan and Ericka Carpenter, her grandchildren Dominique (Dennis) Bellanger, Alexander, Randy, and Kalo Carpenter. As well as her sisters and brother Tracy, Dorla, and Kent (Cubby) Harrison and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews.
May she rest in peace within the Paradise of her God and may ours watch over her soul until we meet again.
