

Martin L. Oliver, aka Mo, age 91, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on April 10, 2026. He was born on November 11, 1934, in Redmond, Oregon, and later made his home in West Valley City, Utah for 60 years.
Martin proudly served his country in the United States Navy before building a long and dedicated career as a welder and shop foreman. He was a man who believed in hard work, simple living, and helping others whenever he could. Known for his generous spirit, Martin would lend a hand to anyone in need, never expecting anything in return.
He loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing, hunting, and camping. Whether in the mountains or by the water, he was happiest surrounded by nature. Martin was also a devoted volunteer for over 20 years at the Lee Kay Center, where he also taught hunter safety and shared his knowledge and passion with others.
Martin was a man of simple style and strong character, most often seen in blue jeans and a T-shirt or his favorite western button-up shirts. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who cherished his family deeply.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Oliver; his children, Mike Oliver (Judy), Larry Oliver (Monica), and Sheryl Gutierrez (Mike); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Fickett. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde Oliver and David Oliver.
Martin will be remembered for his kindness, his strength, and the lasting impact he made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Martin’s life will be held at Valley View Mortuary, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120 on May 15 at 1:30 PM with a time of inspiration, military honors, and open mic followed by mingling with family and friends until 3:15pm.

A ceremony honoring Martin L. Oliver’s life will take place at Valley View Mortuary, located at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, UT 84120. The event is scheduled for May 15 at 1:30 PM.
The celebration will include a time of inspiration, military honors, and an open mic, allowing friends and family to share memories and tributes. Following these proceedings, guests are invited to mingle and connect with loved ones until 3:15 PM.
