OBITUARY

Mary Isabella Smith

January 5, 1935April 26, 2021

She had a beautiful smile, a perfect hug, and always made everyone feel important. Mary loved her 2 children, Linda Jo (married to David Fawson and Michael (married to Kristen), 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and especially her husband, Clyde Smith. It took Clyde eight years to convince Mary to marry him, but they were finally married in 1959, and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. This May, they would have celebrated 62 years.

Mary was born January 5, 1935, she grew up in Magna with her two brothers (Edwin and Robert) and her mom (Dianthe Emelia “Millie” Slater), a widow. She was an athlete, cheerleader and beautiful soprano singer at Cyprus High School.

Mary was a faithful member of the LDS church. She worked for MaBell for 35 years. One of Mary’s favorite pastimes was supporting her kids and grandkids in all their activities.

Her favorite trip was to New York, when she was 19, with her girlfriends and she would regale her grandkids with stories of that epic adventure. Later in life, she loved to travel to Hawaii, Branson, take Alaska cruises, and so many more.

Mary Smith passed away on April 26, 2021. Graveside services will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Utah Humane Society. She loved her little dogs and cats.

I love “Aunt” Mary. She was such a beautiful person and an important part of my childhood. I will treasure the memories at Otter Creek where she patiently taught me how to water ski and always made me feel loved and heard. She had a wonderfully compassionate spirit. I will miss the raucous card games and her sweet smile. I am so grateful for the forever friendship that she has with my parents and my family! All my love to you Clyde, Linda Jo, and Mike.

My sympathy goes out to you Clyde. I will really miss seeing Mary at the Beauty Salon every Friday. She was such a lovely lady and was always smiling. I really enjoyed all the cruises that we went on & shared such wonderful memories. I shared her love of animals as our dogs showed unconditional love for us! I send my love to you Mary until we meet again!
Love, As Always, LeeOnna Stuart

We will miss Mary greatly, Don and I have many fun memories of doing things with Clyde and Mary, Whether it was a Road Trip, (Our favorite road trip with them was Our Trip down the Oregon Coast and into the Redwoods in 2009), a Cruise, or a get together for Dinner and Cards. We always enjoyed our time together. Mary was such a compassionate person and she was always thoughtful of others and we never heard her say a discouraging word about anyone. I'm sure Mary is having a great reunion with her family that has passed on before her. Till we meet again Mary.....

Love this sweet lady. Played many card games with she and Clyde. Mary is the only person we know who would apologize over and over for winning. Our trips to Branson, Hawaii, and our cruises to Alaska will never be frogotten. She and Clyde are the perfect couple. Their love for each other was so evident. So thankful for our friendship. Love you Mary.
