Mavis Lorraine Reed Woodman, age 88, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family in Erda, Utah on August 17, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.
Mavis was born May 23, 1933 in Kelso, WA to Warren Walter Reed and Bertha Mae Davis Reed. She attended Washington Elementary in Kelso and Lakeside Junior Academy in Longview, WA. On October 16, 1949 she was united in marriage to John Warner Woodman in Kelso, WA. John and Mavis moved to Roseburg, OR soon after their marriage. They also lived at “Camp Comfort,” a logging camp, near Tiller, OR for several months. In 1966 John and Mavis moved the family to Utah where they resided in Spanish Fork, Springville and West Valley City. After John’s death, Mavis moved to Erda to live with her son, Steve.
Mavis was an avid bowler and loved the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, camping, and boating. Her family meant the most to her, and she enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all of their activities.
Mavis is survived by her children, John (Sue) Woodman of Roseburg, OR; Ron (Iva Dell) Woodman of Magna, UT; Merry (Nick) Hoyt of Kamas, UT; and Steve (Glynnis) Woodman of Erda, UT; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Bertha; her husband, John; and siblings, Clarence W. Reed, Lloyd V. Reed, Fern W. Reed, and Shirleen A. Reed Crisman.
The family would like to thank The Canyons Hospice Care and Dr. Al Parker for their caring support.
The family will receive friends for a viewing at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, on Monday evening, August 23 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, and on Tuesday morning, August 24 from 10:00am to 10:45am prior to the service at 11:00am. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
