Maxine Ruth Stout Barney, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 8, 2020 in South Jordan Utah. She was born January 29, 1932 on Fort Eustis Army Base in Newport News, Virginia. She married Nathan Barney, May 24, 1948 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and friend. She brought laughter and smiles to all those she met, and will continue to do so in all those who remember her. When she wasn’t taking care of her children and grandchildren, Maxine loved to spend her days knitting, crocheting, and watching her favorite shows on TV. She never missed an episode of Days of Our Lives. She also never missed an opportunity to brag about the success of those she loved, whether it was their school plays, writing abilities, or a brand new grandchild to add to her list (yes, she loved to keep track, and be ready in case she needed to show off her growing family). Never afraid to speak her mind, Maxine’s wit and humor will be missed, but never forgotten. She is survived by her children: Larry (Kaylene), Paul (Kathy), Carol (Bruce), Marilyn (Phil), Sherrie (Rick), and Steven. And her many, many, grandchildren. Her brothers: Vaughn and Richard. She was proceeded in death by her husband Nathan Barney and her daughters Jeanette and Kathleen. Due to COVID-19 a small family-only graveside service will be held Monday July 13, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Valley View Memorial Park.
