Michael A McLaughlin

Our beloved Michael Alan McLaughlin, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, and friend to all, passed away on November 20th, 2016 at 11:35PM. His 62 remarkable years are celebrated by his survived wife Carol Gaye Smoot McLaughlin, love of his life, as well as 20 Grandchildren, 9 children, and 6 brothers and sisters. Known for his infectious, loud laughter, and his light-hearted friendliness toward strangers, he was always eager to make a friend everywhere he went and would bring yet another into the fold who he would receive and love as one of his own.

He carried with him an excitement for life, and a desire to fit as much into his life as was possible. His excitement for each new idea that would come into his imagination led him into countless projects which brought him great joy as he began to execute, build, create, and craft them. He was a regular Paul Bunion (as his wife would say), but all his hard work was for her anyway.

He spent the last 3 months of his life at his happy place in the mountains with his one and only true love by his side. He joyed in the title of grandpa, and oh how he loved those grandbabies! Perhaps his greatest accomplishment in his life would be on June 10th,2008 when he was finally sealed to his truest friend and forever companion, in the Salt Lake City temple for time and all eternity. On that day, within the walls of that holy place, with a smile on his face, he whispered “I finally have her”. He was blessed to spend his final moments surrounded by family. With her, his love, his life, in his arms… he died in peace.
