1975 ~ 2013
Michael Lazro Valdes, 37, passed away March 21, 2013. His memory lives on in wife, Stacy Smallwood Valdes; sons, Talon (10) and Bryton (5), family, friends, and countless brothers and sisters in blue and green.
A devoted public servant, Mike was a beloved father, loving husband, Staff Sergeant U.S. Army Reserve, combat veteran and respected police officer. A basketball fanatic, Mike loved to play and loved to watch, and passed along his passion of the game to his sons. His obsession is forever immortalized by his collection of Nike Air Jordan’s, which along with his passion of the game, he passed on to his kids.
A commemoration of Mike’s life will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 West 3100 South, West Valley City, Utah. Interment will follow at Utah Veterans Cemetery at Camp Williams. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WWP (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) in honor of Mike Valdes.
