

Opal was born in a little farmhouse on the 19th of October, 1927 to Spencer and Tillie Rendel Bailey. Opal had one sister (Marie) and two Brothers (George and Wayne), who have previously returned home.
Opal came to Salt Lake City in 1947 to visit her sister and never returned to Oklahoma to live. Here she met her sweetheart and future eternal companion, Edwin L. Collins. She declared to her girlfriend that he was the one she was going to marry, and marry they did. They were married March 1948 and went on to have four children and a myriad of grandchildren, down to the fifth generation.
Opal and Edwin served two senior missions to the California, San Bernardino Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints after they retired.
When she passed over, Opal was greeted by her sweet companion, Edwin Collins; her daughter and son-in-law: Barbara and Dee Murphy; her son and daughter-in-law: Craig and Jeanne Collins; a grandson: Ryan Collins; her parents; and many other family and friends.
She is survived by two children: Marsha and Michael (Connie); 25 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be celebrating her life at a viewing on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 5:00 -7:00 PM at Valley View Funeral Home 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120. A funeral service will take place on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Hillsdale Park Ward House 3274 Hillsdale DR, West Valley City, Utah 84119, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:45-10:45 AM.
