Orlo Lealand Snow

Orlo Lealand Snow, born March 17, 1933, passed away October 22, 2020. Orlo was born in Springville, Utah and raised in Wellington and Provo Utah.

Upon graduating from Provo High School, Orlo entered the US Navy, serving in the Pacific arenas during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Once discharged, he began his formal schooling at Brigham Young University where he attended until he was called on a Central States (Missouri & Arkansas) Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Once he completed his mission, he returned to BYU completing a Bachelor’s degree in business.

In March of 1959, Orlo married Wanda Lee Peacock Snow in the LDS Manti Temple. They raised five children and fostered 2 Indian Placement students together.

In 1971, Orlo earned a Master’s Degree in Science/Engineering from The University of Utah. He furthered his career in industrial engineering including participation in professional organizations such as serving as an officer in the local AIIE chapter.

A proud and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Orlo held many positions including counselor & clerk in the Bishopric, High Council Member, Gospel Doctrine teacher, Temple Preparation teacher, Family History teacher and many more. He often said spending time in the LDS Temples was where he was most at peace and cherished the three decades he served as a worker at the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. After retiring, he and Wanda Lee served missions in Salt Lake City, Utah, Louisville, Kentucky, and Palmyra, New York.

Orlo enjoyed the outdoors, fishing in his canoe, camping with his family and traveling with Wanda Lee. He was dedicated to his wife, parents, brother and cousins, nieces and nephews, children and grandchildren. He and Wanda Lee volunteered for the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics and any free time was usually spent reading and following BYU sports.

Orlo is survived by three children, Tawnia Lee Newton (Joseph), Tamera Lin Snow, and Gregory Laird Snow (Marilyn), His brother Claud R. Snow (Coleen), 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Peacock Snow, two children, Parry Lealand Snow and Shari Lowene Snow, and his parents, Lorenzo Lealand “Lee” and Norma Snow.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the professionals, friends, and neighbors who provided so much love and care for Orlo in the twilight of his life.

Extended calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 27th 2020 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 W. 4100 So. West Valley City, Utah 84120. Only 10 persons allowed at a time and face coverings are required. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 28th at 3:00pm with additional view time from 1:45pm-2:45 at the Valley View Memorial Park adjacent to the Funeral Home.
