Josh was born January 29, 1978 to Janet and Orlon Gary Whiting. He was married to Sugar Whiting for over 23 years and together they had two amazing girls, Alexia and Lacey.
Josh loved collecting and shooting guns, getting planned and random tattoos and was the biggest fan of the Philadelphia Eagles. He had a way of attracting the very best of friends, and anyone who met him, instantly loved him. Josh would do anything he was dared, including skinny-dipping for a dollar at the encouragement of his cousin Robert. Golfing commando in his kilt at work tournaments was not uncommon, he was not afraid to be himself.
Josh was known for his sarcasm and confidence; he was optimistic and caring. He lived his life without caring what others thought of him. Josh grew up to be the best dad and papa the universe will ever know. He leaves a huge hole in our lives that will never be filled.
Raising his girls was his biggest accomplishment, whether it being coaching Lacey’s basketball or softball teams, or making sure he was the loudest and most supportive drill dad for Lexi. Embarrassing his girls by singing and dancing, making sure he drew the most attention to them was the highlight of his day.
Josh was the best papa to his babies and always made sure he knew they were loved. Taking them camping and to parks, Chuck-E-Cheese and the movies was something he looked forward to. Autumn and Jessie-Mae were such a light in his life, he adored and cherished them.
We will forever be grateful for our “second family” at IMC in Murray. Over a month, with most of it spent in the Shock/Trauma ICU, many friends and allies were made. A special and heartfelt thank-you to the nurses and doctors that took care of Josh as though he were their own family member. They always made sure he was comfortable and supported. Many times, they commented on how patient and independent he was, stating he should teach a class for ventilated patients.
Josh was preceded in death by his dad Gary Whiting and sister Tami Barnes. He was survived by his mom Janet, sister Shawna, Wife Sugar, daughters Alexia and Lacey, granddaughters Autumn and Jessie-mae, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Josh’s end of life celebration will be held Sunday January 26th, viewing services start at 2 pm with memorial service at 3pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran church 13249 South Redwood Road, Riverton Utah 84065.
