Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend Paul H Steck peacefully returned to his heavenly home on November 22nd, 2022, in Lehi, Utah.
Son of Andrew Fredrick Steck and Sarah Neoma Braithwaite Steck, born on October 20th, 1938, in Murray, Utah. Paul was raised in Murray and Manti Utah and graduated from Manti High School. Paul proudly served in the National Guard and later in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. In the spring of 1960, he met the love of his life Karen Taylor; they were married for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on November 11th of the same year. Paul and Karen raised their family of 5 children in West Valley City, Utah.
Paul worked for 30 years at Kennecott Copper Mine in Utah as a stone mason and retired in 1994. He loved his job and the people he got to work with. Paul was a jack of all trades and enjoyed building projects, woodworking, painting, and crafts. He also loved spending time in his garden and enjoyed harvest time the most.
Paul was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings over his life, including as an ordinance worker in the Timpanogos Temple, Oquirrh Mountain Temple, and Jordan River Temple. He served with his wife as a Service Missionary in the South Salt Lake City Utah mission, taking care of the mission cars. His greatest joy was serving as a full-time missionary alongside his wife in the Kansas City mission in Missouri and as an ordinance worker in the Kansas City temple.
Paul loved to fish and camp with his family; he excelled in storytelling and campfire songs. Above all, Paul was a loyal BYU fan; there wasn’t a game that he missed. He loved attending home football games with his children and grandchildren. He had a pure talent for making friends wherever he was.
Surviving is his wife Karen Taylor Steck, son Greg (Danyce) Steck, son Kevin (Connie) Steck, son Darren (Katrina) Steck, son Daryl Steck, daughter Alicia (John) Krein, 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
