Paul Kenneth Topel, our most beloved, cherished, and precious son, brother, and uncle was welcomed into the loving and comforting embrace of our Lord Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. He was born January 18, 1973, and was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas until June 1987, after which he spent the rest of his life in West Valley City, Utah.
Paul graduated from Skyline High School in 1990 and completed a vocational training program as a painter. He took immense pride in his work and was a perfectionist in his craft. He was also exceptionally proud of his Jujitsu training.
Paul had a big, generous, and loving heart, and one of the biggest most beautiful smiles one could ever see along with a great big ol’ belly laugh. Paul was the “fun” uncle and was affectionately called "Uncle Woggy" by his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed talking about music, playing games with the family, had a peculiar ability to recite word for word, the entirety of his favorite movies, and he simply enjoyed spending time with the family.
Paul is preceded into Heaven by his paternal grandmother Selda Topel, brother, Baby Boy Topel, and nephew, Jonathan Levi Garcia. He is survived by his parents, Roger and Baudilia Minier nee Rivas, of West Valley City, Utah, and Gary and Jamie Topel of Corpus Christi, Texas. Sisters: Karen Martinez nee Topel (Adrian) of Corpus Christi, Texas, Nancy Nelson nee Topel (Gene) of West Valley City, Utah, and Debbie Garcia nee Topel (Joe) of Leander, Texas. Nieces: Sarah Garcia, Adria Martinez, Diedre Garza, Briana Helbling, LaToya Lameman, and Brenda Nelson. Nephews: Joseph Garcia, Gene Nelson Jr., Jordan Nelson, Marcus Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, and Brandon Nelson. Grandnephews: Aiden Navarro, Zachary Jr, Ryder, and Cayde Sharer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Valley Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley City, Utah from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. At Paul’s request, a funeral and burial will not follow.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Tyler Moffitt of Valley Memorial Park & Funeral Home for his kindness, compassion, and grace extended to our family in this most challenging time.
Though Paul is no longer at our side physically, he will forever be in our hearts. Paul, our beautiful loved one, we miss you, cherish you, and love you more than words can ever express. Love you always and forever our special boy.
The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
