Phyllis Rae Ainsworth

Phyl was born May 3, 1949 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lynn and Jean Ainsworth. She married David Huhtala in 1969 and together they had two children. They later divorced, and she married Lynn Merrill in 2001.

Phyl graduated from Jordan High School and had very fond memories of being in the Pep Club. She worked for the Episcopal Diocese of Utah as an Administrative Assistant for 14 years. She often reminisced about the wonderful people that she worked with at the Episcopal Church.

Phyl loved to travel. She especially loved her cruise to Hawaii and spending time in Jackson Hole. Even as her health deteriorated, she never lost her sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Phyl is survived by her daughter, Staci (Charles) Hughes; her son, Jeremy (Catherine) Huhtala; her sister, LeeAnn (Bobbie) Medina; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Merrill; her parents, Lynn and Jean Ainsworth; and her brothers, Dennis and Curtis Ainsworth.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 from 6-8 pm at Valley View Memorial Park and Funeral home located at 4335 W 4100 S, West Valley, UT.
