Phyllis was a resident of Salt Lake City since 1972 and prior to that she raised her family in the San Fernando Valley in CA. She lived with her daughter Janet for the past 1-1/2 years in Rapid City, SD.
She was born to Walter and Mildred Smith on Dec. 7, 1927, in Valley Springs, SD. Phyllis graduated from Brandon High School in 1946. She married her high school sweetheart, Harris Nelson, in June 1946. They had four children prior to moving to California in 1952. Harris passed away in 1959 from kidney failure.
Later she married Max Anderson and they were married for 56 years.
Phyllis was a loving, nourishing mother and taught her children the value of compassion for others and that life was not all about what is in your wallet but what is in your heart. She had the most contagious laugh and a smile to melt your heart and a one of a kind giggle.
She is survived by 3 of her 4 children, one son, Phil (Ellen) Nelson, of Salt Lake City, UT; daughter, Linda (Neil) MacDonald, West Valley City, UT; daughter, Janet (Bob) Weaver, of Rapid City, SD. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; 1st husband, Harris Nelson, her 2nd husband, Max Anderson and her daughter, Janice Pinales.
Phyllis will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rest in peace, Mom.
