Our sweet spirited mother, grandmother, and sister, Randa Jean Wetenkamp, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Suzette Acord (Kelly), daughter-in-law Kristine Wetenkamp (Colby), grandchildren Devan, Derek, Carli (Josh), Nick, John, Kayla (Justin), and Joshua, 3.5 great grandchildren, Treysen, Oaklee, Noah, and baby girl, her brothers John and David, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, John, her beautiful sons, Joe and Colby, her dear parents, and beloved brother Larry.
Randy was born December 29, 1940 in Litchfield, Minnesota to Luther and Ruby Anderson. She graduated from Litchfield High School. From there she took on her adventurous spirit and moved to New York and became a bartender. She then became an airline stewardess for Western Airlines for many years. In the 60’s she was stationed in Salt Lake City and met the love of her life, John, married and raised her family. Although she terribly missed her family back in Minnesota, she managed to keep close relationships with them. Randy was a wonderful stay-at-home mom after her children were born, but later worked at JC Penney and then later American Express in Fraud Prevention for many years until she retired. She spent her retired years doing the things she loved most with her husband and family. Some of her many passions were cooking, traveling in her motor home with friends and family, and camping and boating at Bear Lake and Lake Powell.
What do you say about a woman whose precious heart touched so many lives? She loved and cared deeply for every person she met and always had a kind word. Her warmth and love spilled out of her and blessed everyone she knew and met. She devoted her life to her family and grandchildren and was immensely proud of each of them. Always planning a “get together” where we would all attend and eat her good cookin’! She kept us close and reminded us often how important family is. She taught us all that if there is nothing kind to say…don’t say anything at all. She practiced what she preached and made us all so proud of the truly beautiful person that she was. Her favorite mantra’s were, “I’m blessed!”, “I don’t take you for granted!”, “You can only do what you can do”, “Oh, you’ve gone above and beyond!”, and her famous “UFF DA!” You will be sorely missed Momma! May your clothes always be pressed, your socks always match, and your hair always in place! You left to be with Jesus and that’s okay! Say hi to all the Wetenkamp boys and give our love! Not bad for an 80 year old, not bad at all! See ya later alligator….in a while crocodile!
The family would like to send HUGE kudos to Visiting Angels (Melissa & Cynthia) and Elevation Hospice for all of their loving care of Randy! She adored you all! We couldn’t have done it without you, so thank you!
