Born March 20, 1950 to Keith Merritt Groves and Rosetta Elizabeth Kinder in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ray attended Jordan High School. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War.
Ray met Janet Lynn Bockholt in high school. They dated for 5 years. While they were dating and Ray was stationed in Barstow, California, he would drive home almost every weekend just to see his sweetheart. They were married on October 16, 1970. They began their family and were blessed with four children: Jeremy, Craig, Kevin, and Jamie. The family experienced the great joy of being sealed together in the Jordan River Temple on October 16, 2010.
After his service in the Army, where he learned the skills to become a Journeyman Mechanic, Ray worked for Kennecott Utah Copper, Utah Power and Light, Wasatch Transportation, and various companies within the trucking industry. He made many friends along the way.
Ray loved sports, especially Dodger Baseball and NASCAR. He loved going on rides through nature and 4-wheeling in the Uintahs. One of Ray’s greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories about his life’s experiences.
Raymond was preceded in death by his son Jeremy and his parents Keith and Rosetta. He is survived by his wife Janet and his children Craig (Shannon), Kevin (Carrie), and Jamie (Tim) as well as his sisters Terry (Mike) and Dawn (Robert) and his sweet aunt Jeannine Johnson. He was Papa to 12 grandchildren.
We are forever grateful for his hard work that supported our family and taught us lifelong lessons. He taught us different ways to show service and love for others. He loves his Heavenly Father and is finally home where he can rest. We will miss him every day but are grateful he is now with loved ones and in peace. We loved you here and we will love you there. Until we meet again.
