Ray married his sweetheart Deborah Yeager on Sept. 28, 1973 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He is survived by his wife, two children, Michelle and Jacob, three grandchildren, Serinah, Andrew, and Daniel and two great-grandchildren, Kingston and Malani. Also survived by three brothers, K.G., Paul (Diane), David and one sister, Paticia Wilson.
Preceded in death by his loving parents and older sister, Sharon.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many wonderful activities with his family and friends. Whether it was primitive hunting with muzzleloader or bow, archery golf, diving in various locations around the world, horseback riding throughout Utah, fishing on the Strawberry, or cruising with family, he always found joy being out in nature and spending time with his wonderful family and dear friends. His loyal companion, Azar, known as his faithful co-pilot traveled everywhere with him; just one of the many loving pets that touched his life and gave him so much pleasure. The last couple of years he enjoyed making new friends around the world on his ham radios and re-learning morse code.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served a mission to Australia and served faithfully in various callings. His example and testimony will always be a beacon for his family, friends and many associates.
He had his own business for over 30 years installing commercial kitchen equipment specializing in hoods and make-up air systems. If there was a difficult project, Ray was the one the customers would call. He was known for his integrity in doing the job right and on time. He and his son, Jake, worked side by side in which many valuable lessons were taught on both sides. His honesty was refreshing in the business world and he was liked by his peers and customers.
The last seven years have been more trying in the loss of his left leg above the knee. However, he thoroughly enjoyed the years he spent with Wasatch Adaptive Sports in bicycling on a recumbent bike on the Jordan River Parkway, making the time he missed riding his beloved horses bearable.
In late 2025 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and fought bravely against such a vicious disease. He continued to keep his sense of humor by repeating, “My life is really starting to SUCK.” He continued to enjoy each day the best he could. His love for his Savior grew more each hour of the day. He longed to be with Him when the time came to be embraced in His loving arms.
We are grateful for all the love and care of dear family, friends, ward members and the care of the hospice team at Symbii.
He will be missed most dearly, but not forgotten for we know he will be with us always and that he still lives. Families can be together forever.
