Rich Bouthviset, a spirited soul whose zest for life knew no bounds, passed away in West Valley City, Utah on March 15, 2024, at the age of 61. Born in Laos on June 1, 1962, Rich grew to embody the very essence of joy, adventure, and unwavering love for those around him.
Rich’s passion for the great outdoors was evident to all who knew him. He found solace in the serenity of fishing, the thrill of riding his motorcycle through winding roads, and the peace of camping under the starlit sky. Boating on calm waters and navigating the open roads in his big truck were not just pastimes but reflections of his adventurous spirit. Rich’s love for the outdoors was only paralleled by the love he had for his family and friends. He was a devoted father, a cherished grandfather, and a friend to all, touching lives with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.
His work ethic was unparalleled, dedicating himself tirelessly to his profession, ensuring that those he loved wanted for nothing. Rich possessed a rare quality of being fiercely independent and a bit of a rule-breaker, traits that endeared him to many and showcased his desire to live life on his own terms.
Rich and his daughter shared an unbreakable bond, best friends in the truest sense. Their adventures, laughter, and shared moments of joy are treasures that will forever live on in her heart.
To say that Rich was outgoing would be an understatement; he was the life of every gathering, cherishing the company of others, and leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life, to share a story, a laugh, or a moment of companionship, was one of his most remarkable gifts.
Rich is survived by his loving family, including his wife Lom, son Bruce, daughter Colyn. He also leaves behind a legacy of joy and resilience in his grandchildren, who will carry forward his love for life and adventure.
A Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 11:00 am - 12:45 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow at 1:00 pm at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, UT 84120.
