

Richard Dennis Morgan, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2017, in Malad, Idaho after battling cancer. He was born, youngest of two children to Guy and Dora Jack “Jackie” Livingston Morgan on May 26, 1942, in Oakland, CA.
He moved at age 3 to Arizona but moved back to Oakland, CA at age 12 when his mother became ill. He later married Diana Mae Harwood Morgan on June 4, 1966. They moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1974. He loved bowling, golfing, hunting, fishing, traveling and camping with friends and family. He especially loved special time doing these activities and more with his kids and grandkids. “Opie” was the name he was given by his fellow employees at Utah Power and Light Gadsby Plant and Little Mountain plants. Even though he retired from UP&L at age 55, he still loved getting together with “the guys” once a week for breakfast.
Diana passed away March 22, 2012. He later met and married Coleen Borger November 14, 2013. Richard enjoyed bowling in the senior league at Valley Lanes, playing marble games, traveling and camping with family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Diana and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Coleen; sister, JoAnn Crouch; step-sister, Christine Bentien; step-brother, Harry Miller (Vonnie); Richard’s four children, Michael Roy Morgan, Patrick Lee Morgan (Sissy) (from previous marriage), Julie Diana Morgan Green, Richard Guy (Jeanna); and ten gradchildren. Coleen’s four children, Jeanene Hadley (Gene), Randy Borger (Bette), Sharon Christensen and Debbie Platt (Brent); 22 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Hospice, Karen Day, staff at Legacy Rehabilitation for the kind and loving care they provided for Richard over the past few months.
Funeral services will be at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah 84120. Viewing will be on Monday, October 16, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Service will be on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Additional viewing prior to service at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service at Valley View Memorial Park, West Valley City, Utah 84120. Luncheon to follow graveside service.
