On Sunday, August 14, 2016, Robert Glenn Kaiser, known as R. Glenn or just Glenn passed away. Our loving Heavenly Father released him of his pain and let him go to greet all those who have passed before and are waiting for him to come home. He finally passed away from complications of the many illnesses he suffered his whole life. Glenn was a member of and loved the Gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Even though he often couldn’t go to church or participate he never wavered in his testimony of the Gospel. He was a very beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. In the few weeks before his death he had many loved ones with him and he lasted until the last one he knew was coming had arrived to give him their love. He passed away surrounded by the love of his family.
Glenn was born on March 11, 1932 in Heber, Utah as Dale Broadhead. Due to many hardships his biological parents Drucilla Thompson and Herven Broadhead gave up for adoption their 3 youngest of 6 children. Glenn (4 years old) and his sister Karen (2 years old) were adopted by Roland Glenn and Elizabeth Evans Kaiser. Shortly after adoption, Roland’s job with International Harvester transferred them to Argentina and later Peru, South America. He and his sister Karen Elizabeth Batty of Vernal, Utah (who proceeded him in death) were raised in South America till he was 11. They moved to Salt Lake City for the duration of WW2, when they then moved to Lake Bluff, Illinois. After college at BYU in Provo, UT, Glenn went to San Mateo, California area where he then met, married his sweetheart Marlene Sabina Zipperian (from Townsend, Montana) and had their 5 children. They were married on Friday May 13th 1955 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple.
Glenn is survived by his wife Marlene and 4 of his 5 children and one foster son: Linda Kaiser Payne, Elizabeth “Beth” Kaiser Boeshans, Robert “Bob” Glenn Kaiser, Jr., John Evans Kaiser, Lawrence Ganieany (foster son). His daughter Debra Lynn Kaiser passed away at the age of 23 due to an auto/pedestrian accident on December 30, 1980. Glenn also has 15 grandchildren, 4 Foster grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, most of his family lives in Utah so he got to see them regularly. He was reunited with his Broadhead siblings when he was 44 after he had moved from Montana to Utah in 1980. All of them except the youngest have now passed on too.
He was a loving caring father that was always fighting with illness. We do not know why one man would have to go through so much misery in his life, yet through it all he always maintained his sense of humor and an unimaginable desire to make sure his kids had fun in life. He was always full of big dreams to keep them thinking positive about life. He was a handsome, sophisticated man, always trying to teach proper manners and social skills. He was a talented musician, wonderful singer, great athlete and a smart educated man. Most of all he was gentle, loving, easy to talk to and a wonderful care taker of children and animals.
Our Dad was always an example of love and compassion for others. He wasn't there much for you physically because of his health, but he was always there for you emotionally and spiritually. We always wanted to please him and not disappoint him. He would say to us "I will trust you until you give me reason not to." We never wanted to lose that trust. He can rest in peace knowing that he did all that he could to make our lives the best they could be. Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for us. Thanks for teaching us to sing in our home on a daily basis and bringing joy to our lives.
Finally, Glenn had a very big heart and always wanted to help others, his door was always open to assist those in need even though he did not hardly have enough for himself. He always followed the council of our savior “As you have done unto to the least of these my brethren you have done unto me.”
As a final act of giving Glenn has donated his body to science at the University of Utah to help future generations to overcome the many medical issues he had to face in his life. The family had a private life celebration service for him the week before he died. Another memorial service will be held when we receive the remains for burial with Debra in the West Valley City, Valley View Cemetery Section M Lot 133 Space 2 with Debra. His death has been engraved on their headstone. We encourage you to visit DIGNITYMEMORIAL.com to read or post any memories and pictures of Glenn.
Friends and family wanting to help in her time of need can give donations to Marlene Z. Kaiser at Security Service Federal Credit Union.
