1928-2013
Robert Roy Reed, age 85, passed away April 16, 2013 in Sandy, Utah.
Robert was born January 16, 1928 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Stanley C. Reed and Ollie Alice Glassgow. He married Narcissa Marie Messenger in Olympia, Washington on December 23, 1949. He was employed and retired from the U.S. Government and the Granite School District. Dad always loved flight. He proudly served during WWII in the South Pacific. He was in the Navel Air as a plane captain of a Squadron of F-6-F Hellcats. Always said he was, “The One Who Kept the Boy’s Flying”. He also flew his own plane; later he transferred his love of flight to raising homing pigeons.
Dad enjoyed hunting in the mountains of Washington with his hounds, treeing cougars and coons. He enjoyed fishing, catching salmon and trout with his boat “The Fanny Dunker”. Robert worked hard to support his family and teach us valuable lessons, of which we didn’t always follow. Thank You Dad for All You Did!
He is survived by his children, David (Stacey) Reed, Alyce (David) Bone, and John (Nancy) Reed; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Doris Edie of Canby, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his wife and parents; sister, Edith Bartlet, and granddaughter, Connie Jo Bone.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Memorial Park, 4400 West 4100 South, West Valley City. The family will receive friends at a visitation one hour prior to the service at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South. www.valleyviewfuneral.com
