Romola Kendall Nielsen

1940 ~ 2011

On the evening of Thursday, August 18, 2011, our loving, sweet wife, mother and grandmother passed away in the presence of her loving family after a long, strong, and courageous battle with Polycystic Kidney and Liver Disease.

Born August 17, 1940 in Provo, Utah to Paul Peak and Emma Jane (John) Kendall. She grew up in Nephi and graduated from Cyprus High School. Romola fell in love with Robert Lawrence Nielsen of Midvale and they were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on April 17, 1959. They raised four children, Glade (Becky) Nielsen, Karen (Todd) Crowther, Shellie (Paul) Seager, and Jason (Jennifer) Nielsen. They lived in Hunter, Utah for 32 years, and currently reside in South Jordan. Together they served a Mission at the W.J. LDS Employment Center. She served faithfully in all her church callings, including Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society. She loved to attend the temple with her sweetheart, and their good friends every week. Romola loved to travel with her sweetheart. She was fun loving and full of life, and everybody loved her! She was a great cook, and most of all loved to spend time with her family. Romola was a wonderful mother and grandmother!

Romola is survived by her 4 children, 20 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and one on the way. Preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and one grandson. The family would like to thank S.L. Regional Hospital, their nurses, doctors and staff.

Funeral Services for Romola will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Parkway 3rd Ward Chapel, 3200 West 10206 South. The family will receive friends at a visitation Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Parkway 3rd Ward, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Ward. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
