With her outgoing and friendly nature, Shu had a way of making everyone feel welcome and turning every gathering into a joyful occasion. She loved being active and was happiest when dancing, especially line dancing, bowling, golfing, reading, gardening, fishing or enjoying the outdoors. Whether traveling the world, camping under the stars, bowling and golfing with her friends and family or spending time boating on the water with her grandkids, she embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure.
Shu shared a beautiful love story with her husband, Dennis B. Todd, the love of her life. They were married on June 30, 1962, and were married for 49 years. They built a life together grounded in love, partnership, and mutual respect. Together, they enjoyed their careers, raised a loving family, and traveled the world. Among all the places they visited, their hearts belonged most to Echo Lake and Maui, Hawaii—two places filled with cherished memories and happiness.
Shu retired from American Express after 25 years of dedicated service. She truly loved her career and deeply valued the many friendships she formed there, which remained an important part of her life long after retirement.
Above all else, she cherished her family. Her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Shu is survived by her children, Denise Farnworth and Blaine Todd (Bobbie); her grandchildren, Codie (Mitch), Garrett (Hannah), Brayden (Christa), Shelby (Tyson) and Kaden (Whitney); her great-grandchildren, Teegan, Journee, Jaxon, Taylor, Wrenley, Liam, Axel, Braylee and Baiden; and many extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis B. Todd; parents, Macoy J. Slaymaker and Clea Davis Chidester; brothers Steven M. Slaymaker and Brent Kartchner; and stepsons Dennis Todd Jr. and Mike Todd.
